Events and Announcements

Good Evening Members and Friends of the Woodville Baptist Church.

This is an important announcement concerning the escalating COVID-19 Pandemic and activities, group meetings, and worship services of WBC.

The Mississippi Emergency Management authorities and our Mississippi Baptist Convention Board have urged churches to either limit the attendance of or suspend activities and worship gatherings. The COVID-19 virus poses a serious health threat, especially to senior adults and others with compromised or weakened immune systems. A number of MBCB and Louisiana Baptist churches are suspending worship and other gatherings for the next two to three weeks. In addition, public and private schools, and other events at which crowds gather are also being canceled.

The Deacons and I (your pastor) have conferred this afternoon and have decided that the possible health risks to our members and attenders in the high-risk groups and the rest of those who might be in attendance at our gatherings this Sunday (March 15, 2020) and Wednesday evening (March 18, 2020) are potentially too serious to proceed with normal activities. We have decided to suspend all gathering activities for this week and will re-evaluate the situation on Thursday of next week regarding future services.

I join the Mississippi Baptist Convention Executive Director-Treasurer Dr. Shawn Parker and others in calling all Christ-followers in observing (privately or in small groups) to devote time this Sunday (tomorrow) to special focused prayer for the Lord's intervention and for healing for those affected by COVID-19.

I will keep you apprised of developments in the WBC church family as they take place.

In Christ,
Bro. George
